St Patrick’s Square

Over the weekend I joined the Auckland Urban Sketchers again for a session in the centre of the city. This was probably the worst weather I have ever attempted to draw in – heavy rain and wind. Three of us managed to shelter under an awning to draw this view of St Patrick’s Catholic Cathedral and I somehow managed to get some colour on my soggy page. Getting it to dry was another challenge…

The top of the Sky Tower was hidden in the clouds but there were a few crazy loons jumping from the top on the bungee ropes. Their whooping and screaming occasionally broke up the sound of the rainfall!

Anyway, I feel like a really proper urban sketcher now that I have managed to turn out a sketch in such conditions. πŸ™‚
